Web Design

Step 1: Purchase Domain & Hosting

Purchasing a domain and hosting plan is the first step to begin a web design project. Your domain name is the URL that you choose. For example: www.yoursitename.com is your domain. The hosting package is what allows your site run on the world wide web. Top, affordable hosting companies to choose from are:

GoDaddy
BlueHost
JustHost
Host Gator

Once you have taken care of your domain and hosting purchases, save the log in credentials / domain & hosting information to give to the designer when the project is ready to be started on.

Step 2: Planning & Research
Do thorough research on what you want your website to look like. Think about the different features you want your site to display and the target audience you want to reach. Find sample sites that the designer can use as an example to create a site to your liking.

Step 3: Compile Information
Gather all the content that you want to be on the site (i.e. text, images, videos, etc…) and attach it in an email.
Send images and videos in a zip file or separate attachments depending on how many of each you will be sending.
Put textual content in a word document laid out in a format similar to the following:

  • Home Page

Banner image on top of page. See ‘ImageOne.JPG’ attached.
Newsletter Registration under big banner.

  • About Page:

Describe company bio here. List the mission statement of the company or product you are trying to market.

  • Contact Page:

Sample Email: company@companysite.com
Sample Number: (704) 555 – 5555
List any other company information you want listed.

Step 4: Initial Down Payment
Once the designer gets an idea of how much time will be put into the creation of your new site, we can give you a quote for your project.  Any previous stated quotes are just estimates until Step 3 is mapped out.

***A 50% DOWN PAYMENT IS REQUIRED TO BEGIN ANY AND ALL PROJECTS***
All content is also required to begin project.
Once hosting credentials, down payment & all content for the site is submitted to the designer, it will take approximately 2 – 3 weeks to develop the site. The designer will keep you updated as the site is being built. Any additions to the site that were not discussed from the beginning may result in an additional fee.

Step 5: Approve Site & Make Final payment
Once the site is complete, the client will be notified. After site is approved to client’s liking, final payment must be made to launch the site to the web.
Any additions, removals and/or changes to the site that were not discussed from the beginning may result in additional fees.
